Who we are

Inkling (“Inkling”, “we”, “us”) is a social app for writing quotes, poems, haiku, micro-tales, letters and other pieces and sharing them as designed posts. This policy explains how we handle personal information in the Inkling apps and on this website.

The legal entity responsible for your data is [company name and registered address, to be confirmed].

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run Inkling:

  • Account details: your phone number (used to send a one-time sign-in code), your pen name, and any profile details you add.
  • Your writing: published posts, drafts, folders, private collections, comments and group chat messages, plus the design choices on each post.
  • Authorship data: how many characters of each post the AI assistant inserted, so we can show the human/AI label.
  • Activity: likes, follows, bookmarks, prompt entries, streaks and contest entries.
  • Device and usage data: app version, device type, crash reports and basic usage events.
  • Support messages you send us through this website or the app.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • sign you in and keep your account secure;
  • show your posts to readers and your drafts only to you;
  • run prompts, streaks, contests and group chats;
  • calculate and display the authorship label on your posts;
  • provide Plus and Pro features, such as reader analytics, if you subscribe;
  • answer support requests, fix bugs and keep the community safe.

What is public

Published posts, your pen name, profile and the authorship label on each post are public. After 20 posts, your writing may become searchable on Google under your pen name. Drafts and private collections are visible only to you.

No ads

Inkling shows no ads on any plan, and we do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Inkling (for example hosting, SMS delivery for sign-in codes, crash reporting and the AI writing assistant), under contracts that limit how they may use it. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play or the App Store under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information where the law requires it. [List of providers to be confirmed.]

How long we keep it

We keep your account and writing while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within [period to be confirmed], except where we must keep it longer by law.

Your choices and rights

You can edit or delete your posts and drafts at any time, change your pen name and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export or erase your data, or to object to some processing. To exercise them, contact us through the Support page.

Children

Inkling is not intended for children under [minimum age to be confirmed]. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us.

Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit. No service can be perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and sign-in codes to yourself.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
